Where: EAGE Community Hub

One of the biggest benefits of attending the EAGE Annual Conference & Exhibition is the possibility to connect with other professionals from all over the world and all disciplines of geoscience and engineering.

We encourage you to make the most of this opportunity by joining our Speed Mentoring Programme.

About the Programme

The Programme consists of a match between two registered delegates of the conference.

Delegates can apply by filling in a quick form that will be available from May.

Different matching options are possible:

  • Are you a young professional seeking career guidance? Several EAGE volunteers are senior geoscientists who can transfer valuable experience.
  • Are you in your mid-career and considering your next step? Discussing with someone who has been in your place before might be a great way to find your path forward!
  • If you are interested in learning about a different path, you may also opt to connect with a professional from another field.

Important dates:

1-6 June 2023Matching information

How does it work?

Based on the preferences expressed in the form, EAGE will match applicants and inform them via e-mail.

We will endeavour to find a good match for you. If there are no available profiles matching the specific preferences that you indicated, the closest matching possibility will be proposed.

Matched participants are then responsible for initiating communications via e-mail. Each pair decides independently on the communication system as well as on the frequency and duration of their contacts, without obligations. You may find, for example, that a one-time conversation fits your goals or you may decide on multiple meetings.

We invite matched participants to connect early to make the most of your mentoring time at the event.

Guidelines

In all activities we expect our members to adhere to the word and spirit of our Professional and Ethical Standards set down in Article XVI of our By-Laws.

In line with the mission of EAGE, the purpose of this programme is to foster fellowship and cooperation between members to promote the development of the geoscience and engineering fields. Please note that while advice on job seeking and career opportunities might be topics covered within a match, the following are excluded from the scope of this mentoring programme: requests for employment, visa assistance and any requests made with the goal of financial gain. Should you receive requests that are not relevant to the goals of the programme, please inform us.

Questions and comments can be addressed to communities@eage.org

Thursday 13 June – 10:00 to 11:30

A new initiative will take place at the Annual – the Skills for the Energy Transition Session!

Companies in search of new talent with skills related to energy transition will present their needs/requirements, aiming to encourage professionals attending the conference to explore possibilities in their company!

In the same session, the Education Committee in collaboration with the Decarbonization and Energy Transition (DET) Technical Community will present their analysis on mapped skills vis-a-vis the courses offered in EAGE, showing opportunities for potential instructors and learners to join our education programmes or create new ones as possible.

The concluding part of the session will focus on a networking activity for students and young professionals who are interested in an energy transition-related career and how they fit into potential roles in the field.
