Workshop 20

A Core workshop – ‘Beyond the Seismic Wavelet – the power of integration of diverse datasets for reservoir evaluation’ Friday, June 12th|

Convenors

  • Matthew Lewis (bp)
  • Noah Jaffey (Adura)
  • Callum Macleod (bp)
  • Hugh Nicholson (bp)
  • Doug Watson (bp)
  • Martin Wells (bp)

Description

The workshop will consist of hands-on sessions looking at core from a range of N Sea fields, with guidance from field staff and experts. It is expected to share core from Schiehallion, Clair and Murlach (formerly Skua). An introduction will be given to each case study with some background on the field. Seismic imaging will be discussed and the challenges facing each field. The attendees will spend time looking at the core and understanding the geology, guided by field staff and sedimentologists. The attendee should leave with an appreciation of how the core is used to bridge the gap between seismic and well data.

Sub-Topics that will be covered in the workshop:

Core description, sedimentology, fractures, diagenesis, 3D imaging methods, 3D and 4D OBN, integration of geological and geophysical data, examples of production performance.
