Visitors can explore the hiding place, walk through the narrow hallways and rooms, and learn more about Anne, the others in hiding, and the people who helped them.

Canal Cruising

Amsterdam’s history is closely linked to water. Its 165 canals were created over the centuries to support trade, transport, and the expansion of the city. They continue to shape Amsterdam’s character today, and in 2010 the canal ring was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A canal cruise is one of the most memorable ways to experience the city and enjoy its historic centre from the water.

The Nine Streets

Located in the heart of Amsterdam’s historic canal district, The Nine Streets, or De Negen Straatjes, date back to the 17th century. This charming area is known for its restaurants, cafés, art galleries, jewellers, boutiques, and vintage shops. With a wide variety of styles and price ranges, it is a popular destination for shopping and strolling, just behind Dam Square in the UNESCO-listed canal belt.

Rijksmuseum

The Rijksmuseum is one of Amsterdam’s most renowned museums. Designed by Dutch architect P.J.H. Cuypers, the building opened in 1885 and remains the largest museum in the Netherlands. It is home to an outstanding collection of Dutch art and history.
