Digital Transformation Area

Digital transformation stands as the cornerstone of innovation and efficiency and is revolutionizing industries and the energy sector.  This year we are delighted to include the Digital Transformation Area in our Annual Conference and Exhibition. The DTA offers a theatre programme and opportunities for exhibitors and other professionals to showcase their products and services through technical talks, mini workshops, and panel discussions over three days. The Digital Transformation Area seeks to explore and showcase forward-thinking, technology, and workflows, through a programme of presentations alongside the main EAGE technical agenda. The synergies between digital advancement and the energy sector will be a defining factor in achieving a more efficient, reliable, and sustainable energy future with an eye on innovation and cost.

In addition, this year the Spotlight Series An open-source regulator shines a light on the value creation made possible through the Norwegian Offshore Directorate (NOD) for the energy industry and its role in shaping the industry of the future. Presentations from both the NOD and industry will showcase the ripple effects to innovation and society.

Lunchtime Panel Discussion 2: OSDU, are we ready for it?

This panel discussion will critically address the Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) and its burgeoning role in reshaping the energy sectors. Experts will dissect the readiness of the industry to embrace OSDU, discussing the integration challenges with current systems and the readiness of organizations to adapt to this new paradigm. The dialogue will pivot around the readiness of the industry’s infrastructure, workforce, and regulatory frameworks to support OSDU’s implementation, while also contemplating its potential to streamline operations across both the hydrocarbon and renewable energy industries. Attendees will gain insights into the preparedness of the sector for this leap in data management and how OSDU could serve as a key enabler for innovation and sustainable practices. This panel will not only explore the current landscape but will also offer a critical assessment of the industry’s capacity to adopt and evolve with the OSDU initiative.

Lunchtime Panel Discussion 3: Unlocking new resources with a Data Driven approach

The panel will discuss how cutting-edge data analytics and machine learning are revolutionizing the discovery and utilization of energy resources. The panel will explore how these innovations enable more precise targeting of untapped oil and gas reserves and optimize the deployment of renewable energy infrastructure. Discussions will highlight the potential for data-driven technologies to enhance yield, reduce environmental impact, and lead to more efficient energy production. However, panelists will also address the potential pitfalls, such as data security concerns, the need for skilled personnel to interpret complex datasets, and the risk of technological obsolescence. This session promises a comprehensive examination of how a surge in data capabilities can propel the industry forward while navigating the challenges inherent in this digital transformation.
